How We Work

Design Process

With our combined background in marketing and communications, we have an innate understanding that your website, magazine, or branding has to do something. An author doesn’t just want a new website, she wants a website that will boost book sales. A university doesn’t just want an alumni magazine, they want a magazine that will connect alumni back to their school and encourage them to give. We work closely with our clients to clearly identify the end goal and make sure what we’re doing fits into the larger picture.

Once we get started, you can expect regular communication. Emails get answered and phone calls get returned. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and easy accessibility.

Contracting Mary Holste Design

MHD works on a contract basis. If you’ve never hired a designer before, don’t be scared! Our contracts are written in plain English and are a valuable part of the design process: they help us know exactly what a client is looking for.

Contracts typically include the services we will provide, a timeline for delivering those services, the price of those services (see below for more on that), and also information on what we will need from you, the client.

Pricing

Our clients should know the final bill before they hire us. Therefore, we accept work on a “flat fee” basis. What that means for you, the client, is that when you hire Mary Holste Design for a website, logo, brochure, etc., we’ll tell you in advance what the total cost will be. It’s not an estimate, a ballpark figure, or a range, but the actual cost. After years of experience with a variety of pricing models, this has proven to be the fairest for all involved. You won’t be surprised at the end of a job—and it makes our lives much easier!

Ongoing Relationship

We maintain ongoing relationships with our clients and have worked with many of them for years. This is our most important measure of success and we are proud of that record.
