The Saints Go Dying
Overview
by Erik Hanberg
I love experimenting with new forms of technology, distribution, and getting my own writing voice heard. After my experience writing and marketing The Little Book of Gold I was interested in trying to market a mystery novel I wrote called The Saints Go Dying.
Publishing, Marketing, the Sales Campaign
While Mary designed a beautiful cover for the book and helped me edit the book, I focused on creating the website and understanding the distribution channels. Eventually I decided that releasing it exclusively as a Kindle e-book was the way to go. By choosing that route, I was ready to take advantage of the Kindle list feature, where it ranks books sold. I got as many friends and family as I could to buy the book and with their help I got it onto the bestselling mysteries list for the Kindle. From there, I used social media to try to keep it there as long as I could.
Results
As a result of our combined effort — from writing the book, to editing it, to design, to the uploading process, I now have a novel that’s been on a best-seller list for a full week. And that’s a pretty awesome thing.
